実は、ニジイロクワガタの解禁申請参考資料の中に自分が持っていない類の資料があった。それは、文献というより、オーストラリア環境省の職員からのレターで、中身こそは見られなかったものの、「オーストラリアでは、ニジイロクワガタは経済的害虫で無い旨」が書いてあったらしい。
「こいつは使えそうだ」と思った私は、早速インドネシア大使館に電話をしてみた。農林水産？の担当者WW（仮）氏は非常に親切に対応していただき、早速ジャカルタに連絡してくれるとのことだった。念のため、以下内容で手紙も出しておいた。（一応プライバシー保護のため名前などは伏せてあります）。

Dear Mr. WW,
I apologize for sending such sudden inquiry to you, and thank you very much for taking time with me on the phone.
I am an amateur entomologist and am studying and collecting insects all over the world. Recently, I have found a way to import live Indonesian insect, Cyclommatus metallier (Lucanids ﾐ Stag beetle) which inhabits on the island of Celebes (Sulawesi).
However, as you know, the Japanese Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries does not allow import of live Lucanids beetles from overseas. This is because our government is trying to protect Japanese forestry from unknown pests. The ﾒpestsﾓ includes all insect which its biology is unknown ﾐ because it may have potential to be a pest in Japan.
Meantime, I have some documents to support that C. metallifer is not a pest. The documents I have in hand reports that C. metallifer is no different than any other Lucanids live in Japan. As an entomologist, I would like to submit application to Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries to exclude C. metallifer from the pest list, so I can import them to study (personal level, though).
I have visited our government office to discuss this matter and received advise from them that I should contact Indonesian Embassy to obtain further documents. Therefore, I am asking if you can help me on this matter. What I need is a letter from concerned party or person from Indonesian government stating that C. metallifer is not registered or known as a pest in Indonesia. If possible, further biological documents on C. metallifer are very much helpful.

突然の問い合わせ申し訳ありませんでした、また、お電話では時間をいただき有り難うございました。
私はアマチュア昆虫学者で世界中の昆虫を集めています。最近、セレベス島に生息する生きているメタリフェルを輸入する方法を見つけました。
しかしながら、日本の農林水産省は生きたクワガタムシの輸入を許可しません。なぜなら我々（日本）の政府は林業を害虫から守ろうとするためです。生態の分からない昆虫は全てこの「害虫」扱いとなります。
一方、私はメタリフェルが害虫でないことを証明する資料があります。この資料に拠れば、メタリフェルの生態は日本のクワガタと変わりません。私は昆虫学者として、農林水産省に害虫のリストからメタリフェルを除外するよう申請したいと思っています（あくまでも個人レベルで）。
先日政府の事務所に行き、インドネシア大使館から更に資料を集めてはとアドバイスをいただきました。私が必要なのは、インドネシア政府（またはその関係者）からメタリフェルは害虫ではないと記されたレターです。更にメタリフェルについての文献があれば助かります。
何かありましたら、会社に連絡ください。（因みにこれは個人でやっていることで、会社は関係ありません。
最近少しやりすぎなのか、良い文献を見つける夢まで見てしまった。果たして簡単に返事は来てくれるだろうか？個人のために色々と調べてくれるかどうか、心配ですね。
